I must say that this summer already has been and looks like it will be one of the most memorable summers of my life. I just got back from an 18 day backpacking trip throughout the beautiful country side of North Carolina. This state is nothing but a treasure, and I am even more grateful to know that this beauty is right in my backyard. Montreat is such a special place and I look forward to making the most of it while I finish up my last year
and half here. There is no way I could even begin to explain my time out in the woods. I mean, think about all that happens in your life over a span of three weeks and then times that by like 100. Each day was packed full of productive tasks, survival mode at its best! It was like I was in a dream. Each night we got into camp and made it our home only to wake up and move to a new campsite completely different and start all over again. It felt like the longest, yet shortest time ever. The course focused on four main themes: Stewardship, Leadership, Community, and Discipleship. I can confidently say that my life has been enriched by each aspect.
We had an all girls trip, and I could not be more thankful! There are just certain things you don't have to worry about when guys aren't around. Each girl brought a beautiful aspect of life that challenged and strengthened me. I left knowing six friends and came out having six sisters! Thank you girls-- I can't wait for all the memories to come together throughout this summer and next year!
But now I am back to the fast past lifestyle of civilization and am currently getting ready for another big transition: Living in Costa Rica for 8 weeks! I am not sure what to think. Going from seclusiveness in the woods, to prime time city life of Columbia SC, to a new country-- my emotions are overloaded! Please pray for me as I am transitioning through each phase. A current theme of my life is steadfastness and 'living in the moment'. My time home has been nothing short of a blessing. I missed my parents so incredibly much these past 18 days. I've really enjoyed the time we have spent together so far. Maybe because we both know that in the scheme of the whole summer it will be short lived, which is exactly more reason to be 'all here'. I am praying that my parents will join in me with my journeys and be blessed by the Lords guidance in my life. They won't physically be there, but I pray they will be in Spirit! I hope our Lord receives all the glory for these adventures. I love that about Jesus by the way- life with Him is completely unexpected and untimely, but in turn the greatest adventure of your life. His promise of abundant life is so true. Hmmm.. Praise Him!
So, my hope for this blog is just that: a testimony to His goodness, faithfulness, discipline, and love for my life. I pray that as you read these blogs you'll be strengthened by how great a God we serve and can know! It's just the start...
Here are some photos of our Epic Trip! Enjoy!
